Paul became friends with Mike at Bellaire High School. They sat next to each other in science glass and were also in debate together. High school was pretty rough for Mike. He lived in crappy apartments. He did not get along with his step-father. He left the apartment his senior year spending his night on the couches of various friends. Mike and Paul picked up their friendship after law school when they became partners forming a law firm together. They took whatever came through the door and did a really great job for their clients. Mike's intellect was powerful and the two of them had a great time practicing together.
